TutorYou at the UCAS Annual Teachers and Advisors Conference 2019

TutorYou at the UCAS Annual Teachers and Advisors Conference 2019

From the 4th to the 5th of February, TutorYou was in Manchester for the UCAS Annual Teachers and Advisors Conference. This conference is a great opportunity to share experiences and insights into the UCAS application process with UK schools and advisors as well as UK universities.

As TutorYou is a UCAS registered center, attending events like this is invaluable for us and enables us to support our students in the best way possible and stay up to date with new developments and changes to the system.

Over the course of the conference we were involved in some interesting talks and discussion groups regarding the UCAS process. We also attended many fascinating sessions about the changing landscape of the education sector including in Medicine, Law and Foundation courses. We also learned about how UCAS Advisers can support their students with applications to Art and Design courses, something we found very useful due to the large number of Art and Design students we have.

We also took part in some table discussions, where we were able to share experiences and practices with regards to supporting students during the decision making process as well as applicant wellbeing.

Furthermore, Dr Paul Redmond, the Director of Student Experience and Enhancement at the University of Liverpool and author of best seller “Helicopter Parents”, gave an inspiring speech about the transformations we are witnessing in the constantly evolving digital age and how we must prepare our students for a very different workplace to the one we ourselves have known.

Overall, it was a fantastic and educational couple of days and we are very excited to apply our newly-gained knowledge to helping our students find success in their academic future.

It was great to see some of our partner universities, including: University of East Anglia, University of Derby, SOAS University of London, New College of the Humanities, and Westminster University. As well as to see our colleagues from O.M.C Collegio Vescovile Pio X in Treviso.
